Divorce can be a traumatic and devastating experience for all people involved. How do we cope with the loss of a marriage?
How do we pick up the pieces and rebuild a positive life, with new connections. In this 2 hour workshop we look at some strategies to help recover from the loss of divorce and go on the live rich, meaningful lives.
This workshop is run by Lutheran Community Care and is free of charge.

Dry Stone Wall Workshop and Working Bee

Join experienced landscaper Craig from Piccadilly Landscapes for this practical workshop to learn how to build a dry stone wall.
This workshop and working bee will begin to transform the eastern end of the Teetaka Ila Platform Community Gardens into a purpose built Sensory Garden and Nature Play Area in response to community interest and need.
This event is free for your participation – BYO gloves, safety glasses & hat (essential) as well as picks, shovels & stone working hammers (if you have them). Please be aware that some heavy work is involved.

Blending Families

Embrace the differences and consider the elements which make a successful blended family.
Since many remarriages include children from previous relationships, blended families or step families are more common then ever.  In this 2 hour workshop we look at how to embrace the difference and consider some of the elements which make a blended family: such as a solid marriage/relationship, being civil, respectful relationships, compassion for everyone’s development and room for growth.

Record your school choir, singing group, spoken word or poetry with an experienced sound engineer and music mentor.
The Aldgate Railway Platform Signal Box will be transformed into a recording studio for one day only to give students a real experience of preparing and recording music. Schools will receive the digital recording of their students to celebrate their musical achievements and participation in 2019!

BMX Sessions

Part of the Adelaide Hills BMX, Skate and Scooter Series, book in for a bike session at Pomona Road Bike Park, Stirling.

Join the crew from Roller All Day for a fun and safe program where kids can learn more about riding on the bike track and about dirt jump maintenance, goal setting, resilience.

In the morning coaching session times are dedicated to age groups with 10 participants per session – BOOKING ESSENTIAL.

9.30am-10.30am – 5-8 year olds
10.30am-11.30am – 9-12 year olds
11.30am-12.30pm – 13-15 year olds

In the afternoon join in a fun mentoring session with Tom to learn more about bike maintenance and jump building.

Registration forms will be emailed out prior to the event and must be signed by parent/guardian to participate.

Repair Cafe

The Repair Cafe is a pop up event that invites people of all backgrounds to get household items repaired by volunteer repair experts for free. The Repair Cafe is a place for the community to come together, to recognise and share skills and to reduce unnecessary household waste. Volunteer repair expert will take the time to explain the repair process to participants, helping them to learn new skills and understand the benefits of repairing. The Repair Cafe ethos recognises that some items will be beyond repair and participants will be made aware of this before taking part.

Bush Foods Workshop and Working Bee

Come and discover the bush foods of the Adelaide Hills at this workshop and working bee presented by The Old School Community Garden in partnership with The Hut Community Centre.

Learn from Peramangk & Kaurna Elder, Ivan-Tiwu Copley about the historic and present use of local native plants in food, medicine and culture. Learn to identify these plants and discover how to grow them for yourself. Learn from and work with Jenny Deans, experienced Horticulturalist to create a bush foods trail within The Old School Community Garden that will provide information to school children and other garden visitors.

Children under 12 can participate for free but must be supervised at all times. Please let us know when you book in how many children under 12 you will be bringing so that we can plan accordingly.

Please wear sturdy shoes/boots and clothes suitable for gardening which are appropriate for the weather such as sun hat/rain jacket. Bring your own gardening gloves and small hand tools if possible.

Enjoy afternoon tea and bush treats at the cake stall (cash only) with all funds raised supporting the ongoing work of The Old School Community Garden. Plants will also be available to order for your own garden.

This event will proceed in inclement weather, but be deferred if there is a major storm or extreme or higher fire-risk weather.
