Our Adult Community Education (ACE) courses are for people to develop their computer and other workplace skills in small, friendly classes.

Participant eligibility criteria apply

To be eligible to enrol in these courses you must be:

  • Be aged 17 years or older
  • NOT enrolled in High school/Secondary School
  • Be actively looking for work or
  • Be actively looking to go on to further study
  • Can commit to the time required to complete this course.
  • Reside in South Australia
  • Have the right to work in South Australia

Once we have received your booking, one of our team will be in contact to arrange a time for you to come in to the centre, prior to the course starting, to complete a pre-training assessment.

****The pre training assessment is a requirement of our funding to run these fully subsidised courses and MUST be done prior to enrolling in the course.

Microsoft Office for Work

Microsoft Office is the most popular work place software. In this course you will learn the basics of Word, Excel and PowerPoint including their similarities and unique functionality.  If you’ve never used Office or haven’t for a long time, this is the course for you. Basic computer skills are necessary for this course.

Learn about:

  • Text and paragraph formatting including Font selection & line spacing
  • Inserting images, tables, charts, shapes & applying special affects to them
  • Copying text, images, tables etc., between Word, Excel or PowerPoint
  • Using the time saving Format Painter to copy any formatting in one mouse click

Pathways to Horticulture

This is a new introductory course for people interested in working in the horticulture industry, to be conducted over 17 weeks, 4 hours per week. This is an ideal course for those who are starting out in the gardening / horticulture industry. Subjects to be covered may include,

  • Basic Botany
  • The Plant Environment
  • Soils and Other Growing Medias
  • Plant Propagation
  • Plant Nutrients
  • Irrigation Systems
  • Plant Care And Development
  • Greenhouse Gardening
  • Market Gardening
  • Flower Growing
  • Business Plan

There is also the possibility of 2 weeks of industry work experience – this is yet to be confirmed.

Students finishing this course will have a good foundation to go on to study Certificate II in Horticulture.
