Move It is about physical activity for people over 50.
The aim of the project at The Hut is to link inactive mature people with existing, organised physical activities that suit the individual's health, personality and pocket.
There is a tremendous choice of activities in the Adelaide Hills. Many can be done at the level you choose
Exercise, Tai Chi, Walking, Yoga
Strength and balance or Belly dancing
Aqua, Walking, Pilates or Line or Ballroom dancing
Aerobic, Circuit or Resistance training, Tap or Latino dancing
Bowls or Petanque, Tennis
These activities can be found in many locations in the Hills: Aldgate, Bridgewater, Crafers, Stirling, Gumeracha, Hahndorf, Lobethal, Mt Barker, Oakbank, Balhannah, Verdun, Woodside, Strathalbyn.
The project officer is Gael, who is no spring chicken herself. She is convinced that she managed to recover in both body and spirit from a major car accident by taking part in swimming and belly dancing. It was as much the social support of the other participants as the activity itself that helped her.
Gael's approach is to ask people what activity they have dreamed of doing, as she sees this time in life as a time to be focussed on the enjoyment, as much as the benefit, of the activity.
Her motto is: It is never too late to begin to be physically active

Strength and Balance This is an appeal for anyone interested in doing the training to become a coordinator for Strength and Balance classes. Rosemary Badenoch is willing to do the training if a sufficient number of people are interested.
We are hoping to start a class in the Norton Summit area, so if you live in that region, or are willing to travel there, and are able to give the time to becoming a coordinator, please let me know. The training takes less than a full day.
